Task 4: Conditionals (1&2)

Task 1: Listen up

One day I overheard my boss ask a colleague to get a new coffee machine for the office, and I begged my boss to let me do it instead.
He agreed and gave me a large budget, so I ordered an expensive espresso machine all the way from Italy. However, it turned out that he wanted a copy machine, not a coffee machine.
My poor listening skills had almost cost me my job, so I read books about
listening, watched talks about listening, asked people questions about listening. And over time, I developed a set of for how to listen effectively.
It is said that great leaders, the people who are the most , are usually really good at listening to others, and I have generally found that to be true.
We must make a choice to listen to what people say rather
than just to hear them. I consider this advice to be . Also, you should ask questions after you have listened. But these are questions you ask yourself, not the other person, like why, what, how.
For example, why is she saying this at this time? Why is she speaking to me rather than somebody else? In other words, what’s her , and does she have an ? I find that if I ask myself those questions when I’m listening, then I listen in ways that lead to positive results for everyone.
